Thank you for your interest in A Nanny for U's Doula service to postpartum mothers. Our Doula Program draws on the age-old traditions of mother-to-mother wisdom and care. We believe this program can benefit you and your family in many ways.
Our Doulas (Greek for woman who serves women) are specially trained to help new mothers establish successful breast-feeding and bonding, learn safe and healthy parenting skills and learn to recognize situations which call for medical assistance. A Doula from A Nanny for U will also offer help with providing nutritious meals and snacks, light housekeeping, household management, sibling care, run errands and even walk the dog! Our goal is to provide Doulas who offer these services in a non-judgmental and non-intrusive way.
Our process consists of:
- Detailed, oriented Doula program application begins process
- Presentation of Doula candidates available to meet your criteria
- Criminal background checks from the appropriate states
- Obtain driving records for the past 5 years
- Detailed Doula references provided by previous clients from A Nanny for U
- Long-term rapport with each individual Doula
Doula Requirements:

- Flexible schedule
- Completed postpartum training Doula course.
- Multiple years of experience and expertise in child care industry: i.e.: nannies, day care, first hand experience of being mothers & grandmothers
- Candidates are non-smokers
- All Doulas are infant/child Safety CPR certified
- Must own their own car, with full coverage auto insurance
- Pager accessible for on-call and emergency situations
Fees:
- Placement fee of $250 per month of service (can be broken down for a 2-week minimum)
- Doula hourly rate of $28 per hour
- Average schedule ranges from 4-6 hours per day, 3-5 days a week
- Overnight care available
